Saturday 19th November – Coloured Belt Grading – Waikanae
The third coloured belt grading of the year will be held on November 19th at Waikanae Memorial Hall. Exact times are not known yet, as it’s possible we may split the grading by club or by rank, but it will likely start in the morning, and finish mid afternoon. Normally, the lower ranks (white and yellow) would be split off a little earlier, but that depends on how the examiner wants to run it.
25th – 27th November (To Be Confirmed) – National Kids Camp
Not 100% sure if this is going ahead, but it is still in the ITKD calendar, so mentioning it here. Keep an eye out!
This is a really fun event for those 8-15 years old, regardless of rank, and it’s sold out (fast) every year it’s been held. Highly recommended.

4-5 Dec Black Belt Grading
Black belt grading to be held in Wellington. The Sunday afternoon session is open to the public, so anyone looking to grade to black belt in the next year or so should get along to watch. We will hopefully have a number of our own members at this grading, so you can also come along to support them!
3-4 Feburary 2023 – National Summer Camp
Registrations are open now for the 2023 National Camp, to be held at Tui Ridge Park near Rotorua.
https://members.itkd.co.nz/events/camps/2023-summer-camp/index.php
A huge opportunity to meet a bunch of other people at your own level, and also get training run by our most senior Master instructors – Including New Zealand’s very own 9th Dan Grandmasters – GM Evan Davidson, and GM Paul McPhail. 9th Dan is the highest possible rank in Taekwon-Do.
There will also be a Senior Dan Grading, and all going well, Mr Darren Ward will be testing for 7th Dan (Master), and Mr Lloyd-Evans for 4th Dan.
10-12 March 2023 – Nelson Camp
Another camp opportunity has just been announced, this time in Nelson. Open to all.

IMPORTANT NOTE about Participation Credits
If you are not yet aware, one of the requirements you must meet in order to grade to Black Belt is to have earned 10 “participation credits”. These credits come from attending events outside of normal training. This could take the form of
– Seminars
– Tournaments
– Camps
– Special trainings (e.g. our end-of-year mini tournament would count)
So, two things about that.
1) Make sure you ARE attending these things over time. Looking forward to a black belt grading, only to find that you don’t qualify because you’re short on credits … well … that sorta sucks.
2) Keep a RECORD of what you do attend. Trying to go back over several years of events is not an easy task. So, start keeping a list in a safe place.
