About Spirit Taekwon-Do

Taekwon-Do is for regular people.
You don’t need to be fit. You don’t need flexibility. You don’t need confidence. You just need to start.
In ITF Taekwon-Do, everything is taught step-by-step – so beginners aren’t thrown into the deep end. You’ll learn the basics first, build skill fast, and train at a level that suits you.
But the real change isn’t only physical.
As you train, you start to carry yourself differently: more calm, more focused, more resilient. Kids learn boundaries, respect, and self-control. Adults get fitter, sharper, and more confident in their own skin.
Along the way you’ll learn practical self-defence – not just moves, but awareness, decision-making, and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
That’s Taekwon-Do at its best: a skill you build, and a mindset you keep.

Taekwon-Do classes for beginners
We do occasionally hold beginners-only classes, but these can sometimes be months apart and depend upon the space available in the dojang.
The best way to start in the meantime is to just turn up and join in! Or turn up, watch one class, and then join in next time.
To check if there is a beginners class coming up, or to make arrangements to have a go at Taekwon-Do, contact us now and we will let you know.
Taekwon-Do is different things to different people.
Some come for fitness. Some for confidence. Some just want to learn a real skill.
It’s also one of the few activities that truly suits all ages.
You’ll often see kids, parents, and even grandparents training in the same club. People can start young or start later. Progress is personal, not competitive.
ITF Taekwon-Do isn’t only about punches and kicks. It has a strong values culture built into the art from the beginning. As you learn practical self-defence, you’ll also train the tenets of Taekwon-Do, and that’s where a lot of the long-term benefits come from.
Over time, students tend to gain more than technique: steadier confidence, better self-control, and a stronger sense of discipline. For kids, those life skills can be just as important as the physical side.
