Leaine joined Spirit Taekwon-Do with two of her daughters in 2015, her husband and third daughter joined up the next year making it a family affair. Leaine earned her I Dan in 2015 and her currant rank of II Dan in June 2021. She started assistant instructing in 2016 alongside Mr Lloyd Evans and became a co-instructor in August 2023.
Leaine has always been an active member of the Spirit Taekwon-Do club. She became the club president in 2015, passing on the mantle in 2020 when she became an official assistant instructor. She now runs the Wednesday Class for Spirit Kelburn alongside her three daughters, and in 2024 her and her husband became the managers of the New Zealand Team for the ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships for Croatia 2025 and Paraguay in 2027.
