Sydney started training in 2013 when she was 8 years old with her twin sister and mother at Spirit Thorndon, later moving to Spirit Kelburn. She achieved her 1st Dan Black belt in 2021 and 2nd Dan in 2024.In 2023 Sydney was selected to be a junior member of the New Zealand Taekwon-Do Team and won a gold and bronze medal in girls team events at the 2023 World Championships in Finland. Since then she has also competed at the 2024 World Cup in Argentina, and as a senior at the 2025 World Championships in Croatia.
Sydney has been assisting in classes since 2020. She brings her tournament experience to help improve and inspire the other members of the club. She is one of the assistant instructors at the Wednesday Class in Kelburn along with helping on the other nights.
